Betty  Higgins
Betty J. Higgins, 79, passed away on May 8, 2019 in Mayo, FL. Betty was born February 11, 1940 in Mayo, Florida to David K. Perry Sr. and Christine E. Corbin Perry.
Mrs. Higgins was of the Baptist faith. Betty was a homemaker that was devoted to her husband and a loving mother to her children. When the kids started school, Mrs. Betty followed, working for the Lafayette County Schools, working as the office administrator. Mrs. Betty enjoyed cooking, and love family time during holidays or Sunday after church dinners. While staying in Lafayette Health Care, she made arts and crafts out of jewelry and broaches for her family and friends. She was the family historian, spending countless hours researching her family heritage tracing them back all the way back to Europe. Out of all these, her greatest joy was being a Nana to her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents David K. Sr. and Christine E. Perry.
Mrs. Higgins is survived by her husband Johnny Higgins; her children, Michael Wilder (Toni), Michele DuPree (Greg), and Melissa Law (Philip); her brother, David Perry, Jr.; 12 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of Betty's life will be held on Monday, May 13, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Burns Funeral Home of Mayo with Bro. Bruce Branche officiating. Interment services will follow in Airline Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Monday, May 13, 2019 at Burns Funeral Home of Mayo. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
