Cleo's Story

Mr. Cleo Hart, Jr., 87, passed away on March 10, 2017 at Haven Hospice in Lake City, FL following an extended illness. Cleo was born February 16, 1930 in Mayo, Florida to Mr. Cleo Hart Sr. and Mrs. Cecile Louise Knight Hart. He was of the Methodist faith and was a member of Mayo Methodist Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and Deacon for several years. Cleo was a farmer in his earlier years before working as an Agriculture Inspector with the State of FL Department of Agriculture for 24 years. He was a member of Mayo Masonic Lodge #119 for 34 years and loved hunting and fishing in his spare time. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Farris L. Hart.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Dolores "Doty" Hart; his daughter, Faith Taylor and husband Wyatt, two grandchildren, Donna Moore and Stacy, Richard Ezell and Miguel, one great-grandchild Jade McDaniel and Brandon and one great-great-grandchild Korbin along with many other relatives and a host of friends.
Memorial services will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at 3:00 PM at Mayo Methodist Church with Bro. Wayne Hudson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. All arrangements are under the care of Burns Funeral Home of Mayo.
