Eula Mae Hurst Hendrix was born in Mayo, Florida, on March 23, 1935, and went to be with her Heavenly Father on November 17, 2017. She was the daughter of John Martin and Lula Mae Ward Hurst, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her daughter and grandson, Nancy and Matthew Chambers; three sisters, Varney Rahn, Evie Lee and Thelma Hurst; and two brothers, Donald Hurst and Thomas Hurst. Survivors include brother Martin Hurst of St. Augustine, sister Jeanette Whidden (Mike) of Fort Myers and one sister-in-law, Lyndal Hurst (Donald) of Mayo along with many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Eula was a graduate of Lafayette High School, North Florida Community College and Florida State University. She taught elementary school in Palatka, Florida and then in Perry, Florida until her retirement. She was a long-time active member of Lakeside Baptist Church in Perry and lived in Perry until she went to Oakridge Assisted Living and then to Lafayette Health Center in Mayo, Florida.
Visitation will be on Monday, November 20, at Riverside Baptist Church at 3:30, followed by the funeral service at 4:00 with burial immediately following in the Riverside Cemetery. The funeral service will be conducted by Reverend Kenny Sullivan.
