Herman's Story

Mr. Herman Elvoy Hewitt, 88, passed away on Sept. 23, 2016 in North Florida Regional Hospital. Herman was born Nov. 5, 1927 in Mayo, Fla. to Frank Hewitt and Minnie Jackson Hewitt.
Herman was a heavy equipment operator for 30 years working for the city of Rockledge, Fla. He enjoyed spending time with his family and hunting and fishing.
Herman was preceded in death by daughters Martha Ann Land and Debra Anita Hawkins; one son Louie Hewitt; six brothers, three sisters and his parents Frank Hewitt and Minnie Jackson.
Mr. Hewitt is survived by his wife of 67 years Mrs. Demetria Hewitt; daughter Angela Lady; grandchildren: Duane Land, Darren Land, Deanna Land, Olivia Hawkins and Autumn Hawkins; and three great grandchildren: Andrew Vega, Reese Land and Czarina Land as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Sept. 26 at 11 a.m. at Alton Church of God with Bro. Tim Hamm officiating. Interment service followed afterwards in Alton Church of God Cemetery. The family received friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 25, 2016 at Alton Church of God. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Mayo.
