Larry Eugene Jarrell, 77, passed away on Feb. 1, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family, in Mayo, FL. Larry was born Jan. 6, 1940 in Whitesville, WV to Glennie Ernest Jarrell and Eva Lucille Keyes Jarrell.
Larry honorably served our country in the United States Air Force. Mr. Jarrell was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Mayo Baptist Church, in which he and Sue served in the choir for 43 years. Larry worked as an Engineer with Lockheed Martin/NASA, working on the Titan IV rocket program used by the Air Force at Cape Canaveral, retiring after 35 years. He was a lifetime member of NRA, and in his spare time he enjoyed gardening and being in the outdoors. Larry loved being with his grandchildren.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents Glennie Ernest Jarrell and Eva Lucille Keyes Jarrell, and his brother Harry Jarrell.
Mr. Jarrell is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mrs. Sue Jarrell; his children, Shirl Aubright (Jaime), Vickie McNutt (Timmy), Melinda Dickinson, and Larry Glenn Jarrell (Linnette); his sister, Deltine Beeler (John), and a brother, Harold Lee Jarrell; 10 grandchildren, Joshua Irvin, James Aubright, Christopher Aubright, Jonathan Jarrell, Ashley Jarrell, Jamie Hein, Krista Johnson, Megan Jarrell, Hunter Dickinson, and Leah Jarrell, nine great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017 at Mayo Baptist Church with Bro. Rick James and Bro. David McMullen officiating. Interment services will follow immediately afterwards in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. The family received friends on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017 at Mayo Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers you may make donations to the Mayo Baptist Church building fund. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Mayo.
