Mark OSteen Mr. Mark O'Steen, 59, passed away on June 7, 2018 at Lafayette Healthcare in Mayo, FL following an extended illness. Mark was born July 9, 1958 in Live Oak, FL to Wyatt Leon O'Steen of Mayo, FL and Mevelyn Land O'Steen of Fernandina Beach, FL. Mark was a graduate of Lafayette High School where he excelled in all sports. After high school, he worked in the dairy business. Following that, he opened 2 assisted living facilities, one in Mayo, FL and the other in Lake City, FL. After selling his assisted living facilities, he moved to Blairsville, GA where he opened his own construction company where he built custom homes for several years. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, playing softball, listening to country music, cooking for his family and friends, and spending time with his children. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Barney and Mildred O'Steen, his maternal grandparents, Henry and Louisa Land, and a step-son, Nicholas Dahlbert.
Mark is survived by; His Father, Wyatt O'Steen, and wife Marie; his mother, Mevelyn Land O'Steen; 3 sons, Barney O'Steen, Jessie Dorsey, and Landon O'Steen; 1 daughter, Malory O'Steen; 2 brothers, Wyatte O'Steen Jr. (Katrina), and Riley O'Steen (Ashley); and 3 sisters, Angie Geary (Tom), Sheree O'Steen Brown (Freddy), and Julie Young (Randall); as well as a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday, June 10, 2018 in the Alton Church of God Family Life Center with Ricky Lyons officiating. Interment will follow in Alton Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Saturday, June 9th also in the Alton Family Life Center. All arrangements are under the care of Burns Funeral Home of Mayo. In lieu of flowers, Mark has requested for donations to be made to the Lafayette County Penny Foundation by calling (386) 294-1261.
