Mr. Marvin Lawson, 80, a lifelong resident of Mayo, passed away on November 26, 2017 at Lafayette Health Care in Mayo, FL. Marvin was born December 4, 1936 in Mayo, Florida to Mr. Cleve Thomas Lawson and Claude Mae Ducksworth Lawson. Marvin was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Airline Baptist Church where he formerly served as a deacon for several years. Marvin worked with the Lafayette County Road Department for 25 years before retiring in 2002. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Cleve and Claude Lawson, and his wife, Edwina Lawson.
He is survived by; 2 sons, Derek Lawson, and wife Dana, of Mayo, and Neil Lawson, and companion Regina Godfrey and family, of Opelika, AL; 1 brother, James Lawson, of Mayo; 2 grandsons, Ruben and Stefan, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Airline Baptist Church with Bro. Jimmy Corbin and Bro. Chris Musgrove officiating. Interment will follow in Airline Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at the Burns Funeral Home Chapel in Mayo. All arrangements are under the care of Burns Funeral Home of Mayo.
