Maudean's Story

Maudean H. Alford, 89, passed away on April 26, 2016 in Lake City, Fla. Dean was born February 6, 1927 in Sebring, Fla. to Allen Frederick Hamlin and Cora Sylvania Tucker Hamlin.
Mrs. Alford was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Airline Baptist Church, where she was a longtime Sunday School teacher. Mrs. Alford received her Bachelor's degree from Rollins College. She retired as the president of the Suwannee River Federal Credit Union after a career in banking. Dean's travels took her all over the world. She enjoyed gardening and many people benefitted from her beautiful needlework.
Dean was preceded in death by her parents Allen Frederick and Cora Sylvania Hamlin; her sisters Hazel Dallis, Flonnie Cooper, and Dorothy Rozar, and her brother Joseph Hamlin.
Mrs. Alford is survived by her children: Sylvia Badger (John) of Green Cove Springs, Gwendolyn Lord (Mark) of Mayo, David Randall Alford (Julie) of Longmont, Co.; her well-loved grandchildren: Kimberly Edwards (Robby), John Badger, Jr. (Heather), Amy Boyd (Adam), Martha Short (Steven), David Alford II (Wendy), Cody Alford, and Brandon Alford (Nicole), 9 great grandchildren; her brothers, Alvin Hamlin (Edith), and Fred Hamlin (Nellie Jean), and her sister Opal Jackson; as a well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 30 at 11 a.m. at Airline Baptist Church with Pastor Freddy Edwards and Pastor Chip Parker officiating. Interment services will follow immediately afterwards in Airline Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 30 at Airline Baptist Church. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Mayo.
