Mildred Christine Willis, 92, passed away on Oct. 4, 2016 at Haven Hospice in Lake City, FL following an extended illness. Mrs. Willis was born Nov. 12, 1923 in Chiefland, Florida to Mr. Grover Cleveland Clyatt and Mrs. Jessie Mae Minton Clyatt. She was a member of Mayo First Assembly of God and worked as a line processor for Gold Kist in Live Oak, now known as Pilgrims Pride. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed quilting, cooking, gardening and most importantly, spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents Grover Cleveland and Jessie Mae Minton Clyatt, her husband, Arthur Jordan Willis and five children, David Willis, Janice Lisle, Lavonda Mann, Linda Maggert and Diane Vanosdol.
Mrs. Willis is survived by; one daughter, Myrtle Land, of Mayo; two sons, Danny Willis, Kenneth Willis and wife Rebecca, all of Tallahassee, FL; 21 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren, as a well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 7 at Mayo First Assembly of God with Brother Kenny Sullivan officiating. Interment will take place in Hatchbend Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday evening Oct. 6 at Burns Funeral Home of Mayo. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Mayo.
