Milton Eugene Angie Ceraso
Milton Eugene "Angie" Ceraso, 85, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2019, following an extended illness. Mr. Ceraso was born on September 30, 1934, in Birmingham, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Dolores Hart Ceraso; his father, Mariano "Milton" Ceraso; his mother, Glennie "Courtney" Ceraso; and brothers, Talmage "Bob" Lee and Joe "J.V" Ceraso. He is survived by his nephew, Mark (Lulu) Ceraso, as well as many cousins, colleagues, and friends.
Milton attended Wylam Grammar School and graduated from Ensley High School in 1952. He earned an Associate Arts Degree in 1954 from Graceland Junior College, Lamoni, Iowa. After serving in the Army, including 17 months in Germany, Milton attended Troy State College, Troy, Alabama, earning a bachelor's degree in Physical Education and Social Studies in 1958, later earning a master's degree in Educational Administration with certification in Guidance and Counseling from Florida State University.
From 1958-1984, Milton worked as a teacher, coach, and guidance counselor in the Lafayette District Schools, Mayo, Florida. As a basketball coach his team won district championships and played in regional and state tournaments. Throughout his career, he served the community as a guidance counselor for Lafayette and Dixie County Schools, Coordinator of Development at the Advent Christian Village, and Superintendent of Schools. Milton retired in 2000, following his second term as Superintendent.
Milton has been an active Rotarian since 1966 and served 4 terms as president of the Mayo Rotary Club. From 1997-1998, he was honored to be named the Rotary District 6940 Governor, where he served 42 clubs in North Florida.
Active in many community and civic activities through the years, Milton attended the First United Methodist Church of Mayo, was Chairman of the Lafayette Bicentennial Committee, and served on the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce, North Florida Economic Development Partnership Board, Lafayette Development Authority. He was a member of American Legion Post 105 and the Lafayette FFA Alumni.
Funeral services for Mr. Ceraso will be under the care of Burns Funeral Home at 3:00pm on Sunday, December 22, 2019, at the Burns Funeral Home Chapel in Mayo, with Rev. Fred Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2pm - 3pm prior to the service. Honorary pallbearers will be the Mayo Rotary Club.
