Reba's Story

Reba J. Hemphill, 63, passed away on July 8, 2017 in Ocala, FL. Reba was born April 19, 1954 in Mayo, Florida to A. F. "Preacher" Buchanan and Gertie Sheffield Buchanan.
Mrs. Hemphill was of the Baptist faith and was a member of New Life Baptist Church of Tallahassee. Reba worked as a Captain with the Department of Corrections for over 26 years, retiring in 2011. Reba was dedicated to her work and her church, she enjoyed going on cruises. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, loving daughter and sister.
Reba was preceded in death by her father A.F. "Preacher" Buchanan, her son Wilford Daniel Folsom.
Mrs. Hemphill is survived by her husband of 31 years, Wayne Hemphill; her son Ezra Folsom and wife Kim, and their children Blake and Kiera; her mother Gertie Buchanan; her brother, Alvin Buchanan and wife Gail; her sisters, Barbara Jacobs, Lana Morgan O'Steen and husband Larry, Julia Roos, Darlene Ward and husband Leonard, and Carol Edmonds and husband Dwight; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Burns Funeral Home of Mayo with Pastor Steven Ruff and Pastor Eric Tinsley officiating. Interment services followed immediately afterwards in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church - Mayo. The family received friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Burns Funeral Home of Mayo. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Mayo.
