Ruth Almeda Mohrmann, 81, of Live Oak, Fla. passed away on Aug. 28, 2016 at Haven Hospice in Lake City, Fla. following an extended illness. Ruth was born Aug. 11, 1935 in West Virginia to Thomas Edward Thacker and Gertrude Hazelett Thacker. Ruth honorably served our country in the United States Army as a member of the Women's Army Corps. She worked for the United States Postal Service for many years in Tampa, Fla. She was of the Baptist Faith and in her spare time, she enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband William George Mohrmann in 1995, a son, Timothy Allen, and her parents Thomas and Gertrude Thacker.
She is survived by two sons, Paul Slayton, of Fort White, Fla., and Mike Cardwell, of Lake City, Fla.; four daughters, Lisa Peterson, of Land O Lakes, Fla., Tammy Floyd, of McAlpin, Fla., Brenda Floyd, of Live Oak, Fla., and Amanda Ruth Howard, of Mayo, Fla.; two sisters, Mary Farina, of Land O Lakes, and Sharon Saint, of Live Oak; 14 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorial services was held Saturday, Sept. 10 at Rock Sink Baptist Church with Bro. Randy Peterson officiating. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Mayo.
