Mrs. Wanda Jeanette Wimberley, 84, passed from this life on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Lafayette Health Care in Mayo, FL, following an extended illness. Wanda was born February 4, 1935 in Mayo, Florida to William Reynolds "W.R." Williams and Mary Spikes Williams. She was a graduate of Lafayette High School where she was a member of the BETA Club and served as one of the class officers. Wanda was of the Christian Faith and was a co-founder of W.R. Williams Distributors in 1954 and worked there for 64 years until she retired in August of 2018. In her spare time she enjoyed fishing and riding in the woods with her husband Mr. "Ab". She was preceded in death by her parents, W.R. and Mary Williams, and her husband of 66 years, James "Ab" Wimberley.
She is survived by; her son, Kenneth "Kenny" Wimberley, and wife Midge; her daughter, Barbara "Bob" McCray, and husband "Bunk", all of Mayo; 1 sister, Earnie Pilkington; 1 brother, R.R. "Buddy" Williams, and wife Jo Marie, all of Mayo; 5 grandchildren, Alicia, Kimberley, Robert, Al, and Aubrey; 8 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; a special friend, Jeanie Fairley; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Airline Baptist Church with Rev. Bruce Branche and Rev. Lamar "Cooter" McCray officiating. Interment will follow in Airline Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8PM on Friday evening, February 22nd also at Airline Baptist Church. All arrangements are under the care of Burns Funeral Home of Mayo.
