Wilbur worked with the State of Florida Dept. of Corrections for over 30 years. He retired from the DOC as a prison Captain. He then worked for about 10 years with the Suwannee Lumber Company. He was an avid hunter who hunted the same block of woods from the time he was a teenager. He loved to reminisce about hunting with his friends.
Wilbur was preceded in death by his parents Daniel and Ruby Wimberley, his wife Mildred Wimberley, three brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by two children, Larry Wimberley and his wife Sarah, and Joy Hill and her husband Gil; four grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home of Mayo with Rev. Kenny Sullivan officiating. Interment services will follow immediately afterwards in Midway Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at Burns Funeral Home. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Mayo.
